Fuzz effects have been a pedalboard staple since 1962, when the Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz-Tone was introduced to emulate the distinctive sound session guitarist Grady Martin created on Marty Robbins’ 1961 hit “Don’t Worry.” The BOSS FZ-1W Waza Craft Fuzz Pedal pays tribute to these early fuzz designs while eliminating the shortcomings of vintage units and adding modern flexibility.

The FZ-1W features both Vintage and Modern modes, offering a wide range of fuzz textures—from sputtering, glitch-like artifacts and gritty rasp to smooth, singing sustain with a string-like quality. Vintage mode recreates classic fuzz circuits with increased gain and a wider expressive range, while a tilt-EQ-style tone control simultaneously shapes low and high frequencies for dialing in authentic old-school fuzz tones. Modern mode delivers a bold, contemporary voice with even more gain and substantial low-end presence; its uniquely voiced tone control allows you to shape the high end without sacrificing midrange clarity, ensuring your sound always cuts through the mix.

In addition to its fuzz capabilities, the FZ-1W is often used as a powerful boost pedal, perfect for pushing tube amplifiers or adding extra character to overdrive and distortion pedals.

Condition:
This pedal has been lightly used but is in excellent condition, with no visible scratches, scuffs, or damage. The original BOSS FZ-1 Fuzz serial number sticker was torn in half [see attached pictures] during removal of Velcro by the previous owner and is no longer visible; however, the Waza Craft serial number [see attached pictures] remains intact and clearly visible. The pedal functions perfectly and does not include the original box.
